The Chargebee Slack integration is a built-in Chargebee app that posts customer, subscription, payment, and invoice events to a Slack channel. It is included on every Chargebee plan and takes three steps to set up. It works well as a simple activity feed. It has few options for routing alerts to different channels or filtering them, so teams that need more often add Zapier, Make, or a webhook.
ChargeBell is not Chargebee
We make ChargeBell, a tool that sends Stripe events to Slack. ChargeBell doesn't connect to Chargebee. Many people searching for the Chargebee Slack integration find our site because the names look alike, so we wrote this guide from Chargebee's own documentation, checked on October 1, 2026.
What the Chargebee Slack integration does
Chargebee's Slack integration docs say it sends customer and subscription notifications such as sign ups, trial conversions, payment updates, and cancellations. You connect a Slack workspace, pick a channel, and choose which events Chargebee should post there.
It also has a daily report. Chargebee lists it as "Daily metrics about subscriptions, activations, payments, receipts", and you turn it on in the same preferences screen as the events.
Chargebee has a separate Slack integration for Chargebee Retention, its cancellation flow product. That one posts events like cancels, saves, and accepted offers. This review covers the Billing integration.
How to set up the Chargebee Slack integration
- 1
Open the Slack app in Chargebee
In your Chargebee site, go to Settings, then Apps, then Go to marketplace, and open Slack. Chargebee's docs say only the team owner and admins can finish setup. Other team members can sign in but can't complete it.
- 2
Connect Slack and pick a channel
Sign in to your Slack workspace from Chargebee and choose the channel that should receive notifications.
- 3
Choose your events
Under the notification preferences, pick the events you care about, such as a new sign up, a failed payment, or the first invoice sent to a customer. Tick the daily metrics option if you want the daily report.
- 4
Change or remove it later
Use Manage Notifications to change your events. Click Disconnect to stop all Slack notifications from that Chargebee site.
Which events and notifications it supports
Chargebee's docs and integration page name these notifications:
- A customer signs up
- A trial converts
- A subscription is created or cancelled
- A payment succeeds or fails
- The first invoice is generated or sent for a customer
- Daily metrics about subscriptions, activations, payments, and receipts
Chargebee doesn't publish the full list in its docs. You see every option on the preferences screen inside your site.
Two cases where no alert arrives
Slack notifications come from Chargebee's event log. If a payment fails before Chargebee creates the customer record, there is no event, so Slack gets nothing. If your Slack account goes inactive or someone deletes the channel, Chargebee stops sending and emails the site admin.
Limits of the Chargebee Slack integration
These limits come from what the docs describe. Check your own site in case Chargebee has added options since.
- One channel. The setup guide has you allocate a single channel. It doesn't describe sending failed payments to one channel and sign ups to another.
- No filters beyond event type. You choose which events to receive. The docs don't mention filters by amount, plan, or customer.
- Fixed message format. The docs list no option to edit the message text or add fields.
- Admin setup only. Only the team owner and admins can configure it.
Our rating: 3.8 out of 5
The scores below are our editorial opinion. We based them on Chargebee's public docs as of October 2026 and weighted the five criteria equally.
| Criterion | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | 5 out of 5 | Three steps inside Chargebee with no code and no extra account |
| Event coverage | 4 out of 5 | Covers sign ups, trials, payments, invoices, cancellations, and a daily report |
| Message detail | 3 out of 5 | No documented way to change the message or add fields |
| Routing and filtering | 2 out of 5 | One channel in the docs, and you filter by event type only |
| Cost | 5 out of 5 | Included on all Chargebee plans |
Chargebee Slack integration
Strengths
- Built in and included on every plan
- Setup takes a few clicks and no code
- Daily metrics report in the same app
Trade-offs
- One channel for every event, per the docs
- No filters by amount, plan, or customer
- No documented way to customize messages
Alternatives for Chargebee users
If you need alerts in several channels or want to filter them, you have two common options. Both still read from Chargebee.
Zapier or Make
Zapier's Chargebee integration has triggers such as New Subscription, Payment Failure, Subscription Cancellation, New Invoice, and Card Expiration. You pair a trigger with Slack's Send Channel Message action, pick a channel, and write the message. Chargebee's own docs include a Zapier walkthrough that posts new subscriptions to Slack.
Make has a verified Chargebee app with 4 triggers and 26 actions. In both tools each alert can go to its own channel, and you can add filter steps. Both charge by usage, so check Zapier pricing or Make pricing against your event volume.
Chargebee webhooks to a Slack incoming webhook
Chargebee's webhook settings let you add up to five webhooks per site, choose events for each one, and protect the URL with basic authentication. Chargebee retries a failed delivery up to 7 times. The wait before each retry grows, starting at 2 minutes and ending at 2 days.
You can't point a Chargebee webhook straight at Slack. A Slack incoming webhook expects JSON with a text field, and Chargebee sends its own event JSON. You need a small function in between. It checks the basic auth credentials, picks the fields you want, and posts a message to Slack. Use the event id to skip duplicates. Each Slack incoming webhook URL posts to one channel, so create one URL per channel.
| Criterion | Native Slack app | Zapier or Make | Webhook and your code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Code needed | |||
| Different channels per event | |||
| Filters beyond event type | |||
| Custom message text | |||
| Cost | Included in Chargebee | Per task or per credit | Your hosting and upkeep |
ChargeBell works with Stripe only
ChargeBell only works with Stripe. It reads Stripe events through read-only OAuth and posts them to Slack. It can't read Chargebee data, so it won't replace the Chargebee Slack integration.
Some Chargebee sites use Stripe as the payment gateway. Your plans, subscriptions, and invoices still live in Chargebee, not in Stripe Billing. ChargeBell's subscription and invoice alerts read Stripe Billing, so they won't show your Chargebee subscriptions.
Consider ChargeBell if you bill with Stripe Billing, or if you're moving from Chargebee to Stripe Billing. It sends each alert type to its own channel, holds alerts during quiet hours, and posts daily or weekly digests for $24 a month flat. See the Stripe Slack integration, or read our Chargebee vs Stripe Billing comparison if you're still deciding.

Frequently asked questions
Does Chargebee integrate with Slack?
Yes. Chargebee has a built-in Slack app that posts customer, subscription, payment, and invoice events to a Slack channel. You set it up under Settings, Apps, Go to marketplace, Slack. It is available on all Chargebee plans.
How do I connect Chargebee to Slack?
In Chargebee, go to Settings, then Apps, then Go to marketplace, and open Slack. Connect your Slack workspace, pick a channel, and choose your events in the notification preferences. Only the team owner and admins can finish setup.
Is the Chargebee Slack integration free?
Chargebee's docs say the Slack integration is available on all plans, and the pricing page lists Slack as included on both Flow and Enterprise. There is no separate fee for it.
Can I send Chargebee alerts to different Slack channels?
Not with the native app as documented. Its setup guide allocates one channel for all events. To route events to different channels, use Zapier, Make, or Chargebee webhooks with a small function that posts to one Slack incoming webhook per channel.
Which Chargebee events can I send to Slack?
The docs name sign ups, trial conversions, subscription creation and cancellation, successful and failed payments, a customer's first invoice, and a daily metrics report. The full list is on the notification preferences screen in your Chargebee site.
Why didn't Slack get an alert for a failed payment?
Chargebee builds Slack notifications from its event log. If a payment fails before Chargebee creates the customer record, no event is logged and no alert is sent. Alerts also stop if your Slack account goes inactive or the channel is deleted.
Does ChargeBell work with Chargebee?
No. ChargeBell sends Stripe events to Slack and works with Stripe only. It can't read Chargebee subscriptions, invoices, or payments, even when Chargebee uses Stripe as its payment gateway.
